Welcome to Fourth Grade! My name is Miss Newland and I am your child’s Science teacher in room 307. I have been teaching fourth grade for 3 years. Fourth grade is an incredible adventure. We have an exciting year of learning ahead of us that will engage each student to expand their knowledge, challenge them to dig deeper, encourage them to explore, promote thinking outside of the box, and amplify their ability to view the world around them on another level. I look forward to creating an inclusive classroom with my students, one that welcomes all learning styles, all interests, and goals. I would like to assure you that I will do my best to ensure your child reaches his/her full potential and completes Grade 4 successfully.

Please note that parental support and encouragement at home are necessary, in order to complement the learning goals at school. Students change and grow each year as does the world of education. The materials, methods, skills, and level of high order thinking content that we are required to teach has changed tremendously within the last two years and continues to expand, motivate, and push our students to reach their highest potential while using a plethora of innovative styles taken from the PA Common Core Curriculum. With the advancement of 21st Century Teaching and Learning and Common Core students will be challenged daily and it is very important that we work as a team to support your child as they learn and grow. I understand that this year we are going through numerous changes, taking on new opportunities, and introducing a new curriculum, but I ensure you that if we work to together as a team to promote positive thinking and learning, as well as support we will see a very successful year for your child.
