Hi there! My name is Mrs. Udovich. I have been with Carmichaels Elementary since 2007. I started my classroom journey in first grade and found my educational heartbeat in fifth grade soon after. I teach ELA and love every second of it!
Prior to teaching, I had several long term subbing positions, and actually spent time working with troubled youth in their homes with the Washington Hospital Teen Outreach program. I loved being able to take a different angle and see what some of our kiddos go home to on a daily basis. I feel like that has made me a better, more empathetic, teacher.
If you peeked into my classroom, it wouldn't be a surprise to see my students dancing and singing to the different parts of speech, working at a center, or tucked away in a corner while they are actively engaged in what they are learning. My goal is for my kiddos to feel "at home" in my classroom. I also believe that I am always a work in progress. I am never settled in my approach to teaching, and I am constantly learning.
In 2013, I started collaborating with teachers worldwide. In the past four years, I have made so many great teaching friends and have been able to implement some of their teaching techniques with my students.
Teaching is a journey that isn't always easy, but there truly isn't a day that I wake up and say, "I don't want to go to work today." I honestly feel like my life's mission has always been to have a positive impact on the children in my community through education.
