On March 16th we held our 2nd Annual Future Chef Challenge for 5th Grade students. This year’s theme was healthy comfort foods. Of the many students that submitted recipes this year, our 3 Finalists for the challenge were: Gabriella Pecjak, Abby Plumley & Mason Lapana. Gabriella prepared Veggie Pizza with Cauliflower Crust. Abby brought the Kielbasa & Carrot soup while Mason had the Turkey Bacon Bravo Sandwich. All of the 5th grade class got to sample what the contestants put together while the judges sat and tallied points. The judges had a very difficult time deciding which one landed on top but in the end Gabriella’s Veggie Pizza w/ Cauliflower Crust received the most points making her the Future Chef Champion of 2017! Mason was the second runner up and Abby took home 3rd place. All students received a prize basket of kitchen essentials and the champion took home an extra prize of a Fit Bit and a Drone!
